A permitted copper restart, ready to run.
Cuprum Metals is restarting the Leigh Creek Copper Mine. A brownfield oxide copper operation with an approved PEPR, processing plant on site, and an established offtake arrangement, sitting in one of the world's great copper provinces.
Brownfield, permitted, largely built.
The Leigh Creek Copper Mine has produced before. It carries mining licences, an approved Program for Environment Protection and Rehabilitation, legacy heap leach pads, and a refurbished processing plant on site.
This is not a greenfield build. It is a restart of infrastructure that already exists, which is why the capital requirement and the timeline are a fraction of a new mine.
A low-cost route from oxide ore to saleable copper.
The plant that shortens the path.
Mountain of Light is the intended processing centre of the operation. The filter press, genset and laboratory are in place and ready, so restarting production is a matter of bringing existing capacity back to nameplate, not building from nothing.
Heap leach to Kennecott cone reactors to cement copper. Proven unit operations, existing kit, low capital intensity.
A historic copper district, barely touched since.
The mine sits in the Adelaide Geosyncline, the same geological province as Olympic Dam, Prominent Hill and Carrapateena. Copper has been worked here since the 1850s.
The district hosts more than 660 known copper occurrences, clustered around diapiric structures and major faults. More than 900 holes were drilled in the 1960s to 1980s to define the oxide resources. Not one was followed to depth.
